What You'll Learn

Week 1: Residential Builder Developer Basics

Foundational concepts in construction, real estate, and development roles. Covers terminology, project cycle, stakeholder roles, and construction stages.

Week 2: Residential Builder Developer Basics Part 2

Continuation of Part 1 with focus on risk, environmental considerations, code compliance, and basic field layout and logistics.

Week 3: Building Technology

Introduction to building materials, systems, and processes. Includes sustainable design, blueprint reading, and technical specifications.

Week 4: Business Finance

Budgeting, cost control, estimating, pro formas, and interpreting basic financial statements relevant to small-scale development.

Week 5: Project Management

Covers timelines, Gantt charts, RFPs, change orders, and subcontractor coordination. Emphasis on field implementation.

Week 6: Sales & Marketing

Strategies for marketing properties, negotiating, customer experience, and branding small-scale projects.

Week 7: Safety

OSHA 30 principles, job site safety protocols, field PPE, incident reporting, and contractor liability.

Week 8: Capstone / Residency Week

Students apply skills at a real-world project site under supervision. Required to complete field tasks, present a final budget, and deliver a development summary.
